This riverside precinct building for Hamilton city contains professional offices, restaurant and hospitality, all integrated into high quality public spaces and river side amenities.

Situated adjacent to the Waikato River provides a great working environment incorporating splendid views overlooking the adjacent river and serene landscape. A key ambition of this urban and architectural study was to form strong connections between the city and Waikato River including landscaped piazza.

In addition to the new office building the existing 1940 Hamilton Club historical building was fully restored and converted to office space opening out to the piazza.

The main objective behind the development is to create a total riverside environment that is not only an enjoyable and memorable place to work and socialise in but also operates as a significant gateway, connecting the central city to the Waikato River offering significant positive opportunity and potential for Hamilton’s CBD environment.

The development comprises a high quality six (6) level commercial building accommodating Mighty River Power (now Mercury Energy) on its two (2) upper floors, ANZ Commercial offices on the mid floor with QBE Insurance and one remaining tenancy on the ground level.

The well-known Gothenburg Restaurant on level B1 flows out onto the river piazza reserve and is interconnected with function and conference rooms which can utilise the associated on-site catering services provided by the cafe and restaurant. A piazza has been created adjacent to the building to improve the distinctiveness of the Hamilton city location and connect the river reserve to the CBD.

DMC prepared and presented the total concept for approval by the developer and anchor tenant Mighty River Power (now Mercury). The DMC scope included all aspects of design and project management of this iconic buildings.
