Te Kuiti Railway Station: Refurbishment

Waitomo District Council:
Railway Station Refurbishment & Seismic Strengthening

DMC's engaged in the refurbishment of the Te Kuiti Railway Station building 1 and i-Site Development

The works included part demolition of the internal walls, installation of steel portals for structural strengthening, small kitchen installation, wall and ceiling lining, fiber protection, office finishing as well as concrete ramp and step link to the existing i-Site

The team at DMC conducted a detailed seismic assessment of the Te Kuiti Railway Station.

The assessment identified critical structural weakness of the building and structural elements which had the capacity less than one third of the New Zealand Building Code (33%), which is considered earthquake prone and therefore required immediate seismic strengthening.

DMC successfully refurbished the historical building and achieved their objective to bring the seismic strength of the building to 100%NBS.

Below are images of the final refurbished building and connection to i-site
